Housing and Development
With Dane County projected to add 200,000 residents by 2050, housing availability and affordability in Fitchburg is going to be a major challenge. Like other products, housing and rental prices are driven by supply and demand, and our current affordability crisis stems from an imbalance. Expanding the housing supply strategically can expand the city’s tax base, allowing us to enhance services to our residents while maintaining fiscal responsibility. However, thoughtful planning is essential for sustainable development. By working together with our community and neighbors, we can build in the right places, plan well connected communities with services and transportation options to match, and look to infill existing areas when appropriate.
As a council member, Micah will prioritize expanding affordable housing access, while also fostering complete neighborhoods that offer not just housing, but access to services and public spaces within Fitchburg’s diverse mix of neighborhoods and rural landscapes. Through smart planning and design, we can meet the challenge head-on, supporting residents whether they seek homeownership, apartment rentals, or the preservation of family-owned rural land.

Community Engagement
Our lives get busier every year, and the sheer volume of news and information can be overwhelming, yet it still can be hard for us to find out what is happening in our neighborhoods and cities. As your representative on council, I am committed to fostering a culture of communication and collaboration between the council and the community. Strengthening these connections will help residents stay informed about council meetings, future city plans, and key decisions—ensuring they have a voice in local government.
I pledge to meet the residents where they are, communicating via email, newsletters, or face to face conversations, to keep them engaged in the city’s planning process. While we may not always agree on the best path forward, engaged and informed residents will make Fitchburg stronger. I will always listen to your concerns, consider your perspective, and be transparent about my decisions and votes.

Transportation
As a member of Fitchburg’s Transportation and Transit Commission, I am continually inspired by our community’s dedication to making our streets safe for everyone–whether it’s a child walking to school, a professional biking to work, or a driver navigating roads in a Wisconsin winter. There are many opportunities to increase safety on our streets, often at little or no cost to the city, that can create a more vibrant and healthy city.
Many are surprised to learn that 40% of city residents do not drive. By ensuring we have transportation options that support all residents, we can build a city that works for everyone. A successful installation of Bus Rapid Transit in the city, accompanied by smart planning around transportation corridors and expanded transit access to underserved areas, will ensure all residents have the mobility they need to thrive.
Supporting Families
I am proud to serve on the Governing Council of my daughter’s elementary school in the Verona School District, supporting Fitchburg’s kids as they grow into active community members. Some of the best parts of our city are seeing the neighborhood kids playing outside, having a babysitter just down the street, and seeing the crowded streets on Halloween. Whether it's investing in parks for kids to play, creating safer streets so they can get to and from school, or creating opportunities for their first jobs as teenagers, we can build a stronger, more connected community. Supporting our youth isn’t just about their future—it’s about strengthening Fitchburg for everyone.
